Headed Down South

Cannot wait to fly down to a city I've never been. I'm looking forward to jazz, Creole and, historic houses, a cemetery tour (sounds strange I know - apparently it's a city known for having amazing g Cajun raves!), balconies over looking the city. And spending time with my family. See you in a week...

Guest Post: Hyper Colour Trend

I'm excited to share with you a post by a fashion-forward friend of mine and fellow blogger - Hillary Stewart from Moncton, New Brunswick Canada!

Hillary is a true lover of life and always has a bright smile on her face - especially when she is talking fashion. She enjoys and practices photography and has an inner passion for animals and the environment. She is currently planning travels around the world - all within the next ten years she will have been to  Africa, BrazilAustralia, Italy, and France. As if she wasn't emersed in the lifestyle enough, she is in the process of heading to fashion school in California or New York. She says, "I dream to have my own store and carry my own designs in addition to vintage garments"

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

Thank you so much for sharing Spring/Summer 2011 fashion trends! Check out her blog at The Brunette Shake.

Seen all over the runways for this Spring…crazy, insane, and wild colours.  They definitely spice up your wardrobe after being stuck in what seemed like an endless winter full of drab black, gray, and neutral garments. Many fashion shows have shown the influx in brights. No more neutral outfits this Spring! Bring it on colour - take a look at the photos to see how you can pull of the 'look'...

Alexandre Herchcovitch

Aquilano Rimondi

Burberry
Paired with leather, patched leggings these colours are amazing!

Christian Dior
I am loving the orange trend this season - look at those sandals!

Fendi
The purple is absolute genius. Quite a fan of the jumpsuit trend - and it is here to stay this season. Again, notice the orange shoes.

Haider Ackermann
I love the colours together. Reminding anyone of Pipa's Royal Wedding after-party? Emerald is hott!

Jill Sander

Tommy Hilfiger
Long, legged summer tans are complemented perfectly with bright, warm orange.

Camilla Belle in Gucci (a personal favorite of mine)
She pulled the entire trend together in an effortless and wearable way.

Finally it's Finals

Bitting my nails, lacking on sleep, eating way too many carbs - yes, this the end - of junior year. It will all be over in two days and I'll be on an early flight to LA (cannot come soon enough!). Trip itinerary posting soon!

In the mean time, I'm trying to keep it together ... any suggestions?

Caffeine High

There is no trouble so great or grave that cannot be much diminished by a nice cup of tea.  ~Bernard-Paul Heroux

Crazy busy week after getting back from a sun and sand-filled spring break. Here's what's getting me through the early mornings and the late evenings. Add honey or agave nectar to taste for the added benefit of micronutrients and a less intense blood sugar spike than regular table sugars.

wuyi - oolong tea

dragonwell - green tea

Urban Moonshine

Bitters are something new for me and as I have been experimenting with my drink-making skills, I came across a product I just had to share! Crafted from organic Vermont herbs and worldly exotics in organic grape alcohol, Urban Moonshine's intensely delicious Organic Bitters create digestive miracles: sparking the digestive process before meals, supporting liver functioning with detoxifiers like dandelion, burdock, and yellow dock. A perfect pairing with sparkling water, smoothies, or a health-conscious cocktail (of course). Wonderful flavors including citrus, Immune Zoom, and elderberry-echinacea.

Body Milk

Saturday afternoon I went for a walk with my boyfriend to enjoy the rarely seen Ohio sun. He lives in a lively and young area, just north of downtown Columbus, called the Short North.

Knowing us, we casually window shopped on our way to the park. One of the shops had such beautiful floral topiary arrangements in their windows and captivating ambrosial scents, I just had to stop in. I loved this quiet little shop - with modern flowing water architectures, greenery, and bath and body milks. All inspired by flora. In my mind, it was heaven. I didn't even pause for the name of the building, but I will update you when I return.

I sampled a few lotions (of course) and they really have stuck with me. I love the elegant labeling, rich shea butter moisture, and clean, modern scents like 'moss' and 'tonic'. Perfect to soothe the body after a day spent in the sun.

The company specializes in aromatic bath, body and home care products: reed diffusers, candles, sheet sprays, perfumes, bath gels and salts, shea butter lotions and triple milled soaps made from high quality essential oils and other natural ingredients. See more at k. hall designs
