Girl Talk

I was recently talking with a very near and dear friend of mine. She needed to buy a pair of warm and durable snow boots. I suggested one of my favorite pairs - the L.L. Bean "Bean Boot". They've gotten me through countless frigid winters.

Then, as we continued to online shop, we both agreed upon a theory I've held for quite some time: Just because one has the ability to buy items of minimally expensive taste, does not give them style. Style is something learned, not purchased.

In today's day, especially in college, it seems people are just buying what is classic yet still simplistic. Don't get me wrong, these pieces are great wardrobe staples, (and I own them too!) but they're not a statement of style... Here's a list of the arbitrary:

So... back to the L.L. Bean boots. Although they're all too common, I must admit they really are so practical

  1. I can't quite tell from this post if you are 'for' or 'against' these pieces as a whole (I want to say 'classic yet simplistic' is a con in this post, no?), but I think I agree with you. Your style has always had a type of chic and original simplicity that I admire though. Missing you, Xteenz!

  2. thank you for the complements Mere! I am missing you, but hoping France is just what you dreamed it was.

i don't know what my opinion is for this post, either. i think i remain undecided. as long as you don't put all of these pieces together in one "look", i think i am pro. they're not style, they are just smart pieces. am i right?

    who knows!
